The pressing need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is driving the development of low or zero carbon emission energy systems.

Harper Adams University specialises in research and development of systems to utilize farm and other wastes through anaerobic digestion and associated technologies. The Agricultural Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems (ACSES) research is funded by the EU, UK Government and industry and the Centre is led by Professor Mike Theodorou. Dr Marie Kirby and Dr Matt Reilly are dedicated full-time to the work of the Centre.
